Obamacare on track to exceed healthcare.gov goal

Open enrollment for Obamacare could have already topped 9 million, according to data released by the Department of Health and Human Services. This puts the Obama administration on track to reach their insurance goal for 2015.

According to this report, about 6.5 million Americans have enrolled on HealthCare.gov as of December 26. In the health care law’s first open enrollment, 37 states who used the marketplace accounted for two-thirds of sign-ups.

If the trends holds for 2015 and the latest data from the states who are running their own marketplaces for 2015 are not as complete as that for the federal site, more than 9.5 million Americans have already enrolled.

More than one million Americans have enrolled in the three days, which led up to the Dec. 15 deadline for coverage to begin Jan. 1, 2015.  Open enrollment will end on Feb. 15, 2015.
