In 2015, Health Insurance Marketplaces will provide individuals, families, and small businesses with a new way to buy the right, affordable health care insurance.

By filling out one single application, you will be able to find out if you qualify for health benefit plans not only in the marketplace, but other programs like Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), tax credits, and cost-sharing reductions.

Open Enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace begins November 1, 2015 and will end January 31, 2016.

HOW IT WORKS on the healthcare gov site:

  • First you create an account on healthcare gov website.
  • Then provide a bit of basic information about yourself and family. You then choose a username, password and a security questions for added protection. Usual sign-up requirements.
  • Now you can apply for health care insurance coverage.
  • After November 15, 2014 you will enter information about you and your family, including your income, household size, and additional information.
  • Then you are able to pick an insurance plan
  • After that you will see all the plans and programs you are eligible for, and compare them side-by-side.
  • You will also discover if you can get reduced costs on premiums and out of pocket costs.
  • Now you are ready to enroll. Choose the plan that meets your needs – and enroll! Your health insurance coverage starts as soon as January 1, 2015.
