Obamacare Enrollment 2016

The Health Insurance Marketplace 2016 open enrollment started on November 1, 2015.

January 31, 2016, is the last day to enroll in a plan for 2016 coverage.

“The importance of this Obamacare deadline cannot be overstated,” says Lori Rund, vice president, product management and market intelligence, at Health Alliance Plan.

Regardless of whether you purchase insurance through the exchange or thru an insurance company, the open enrollment window applies. Nevada is an exception – coverage is available there outside the exchange year-round. But in the rest of the country, you cannot enroll outside of open enrollment unless you have a qualifying event, such as:

Marriage,
Becoming a U.S. citizen,
Birth or adoption,
Involuntary loss of other health coverage,
Permanent move to an area where new health plans are available
