Obamacare sign-ups hits 2.5 million
Demand for Obamacare coverage strongly accelerated in the days leading up to the Dec. 15 deadline, which the HealthCare.gov website saw more than 1 million Americans enrolling in one week and signs point to more enrollees are on their way.
On Dec. 12, the total sign-ups on the website for the ongoing open enrollment season has reached 2.466 million Americans since open enrollment begin on Nov. 15th.
This tally did not include the enrollments from the busy weekend into Monday, the day before deadline set for plans that will kick in on Jan. 1, 2015. It also did not include the several million current consumers who are being automatically re-enrolled into their existing plans. Many current ACA consumers will be subjected to automatic enrollment unless they drop or switch their coverage.
