HEALTHCARE.GOV SHORTENS INSURANCE APPLICATION

This year’s application to obtain health care coverage and possible tax credits towards premiums through the healthcare.gov website will still require consumers to provider their current income, address and related details, but no longer spreads the questions across several pages, one reason for long wait times and site strain open enrollment last year. Returning consumers will have several options for ways to make changes to their current coverage, including a tool, which will help them retrieve details from their current plans.

Five million people are estimated to return to and make changed to their current coverage, and millions are estimated to sign up for coverage on the website for the first time. This new application has been tested by contractors and federal officials since July in efforts to avoid more major problems, which plagued the website last fall.
