CHANGES TO MICHIGAN’S HEALTH PREMIUMS MIXED FOR RESIDENTS

New studies regrading health care premiums reveal a mixed bag for Michigan residents. Many Metro Detroiters and Michigan residents will face price increases despite reductions in 83 counties.

The price increase are benchmarks health plans, which are offered under Obamacare and range from 2.5% in Wayne County to 4.5% in Oakland and Macomb counties. While Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties will face a 7.1% hike and is the highest in the state.

However, most counties in Michigan will experience monthly premium declines, which top to 10.6% decrease in the west-side counties of Oceana. Most residents of Michigan will face premium increase due to 27 counties who are faced with increases in the benchmark plan, which is the second-lowest silver plan and accounts for nearly 70% of Michigan’s population.
